Our creative neighbor, Shannon, carved us a pumpkin! In case you can't tell, this is a BICYCLE carved into the pumpkin...

Of course we went to the bike shop in Healdsburg...

We just happened upon this old bridge on Saturday afternoon...

This winery was started by 2 retired newspaper guys from San Fran. They make very small lots of wine every year and were literally almost sold out of some of their options.

Cork for wine bottles is actually harvested from Cork trees, which feel spongy to the touch. They can only harvest from a tree every 9 years.

Bella's tasting room and storage were built into a cave, pretty cool!

We took these pics on the grounds of the Ferrari winery. WOW!

Ferrari was amazing. This building was the tasting room and shops. By far one of the most spectacular wineries of our trip.

We did what turned out to be a very informative tour of Simi's winery. It was started in 1876 and has continued to produce wine ever since. They even produced wine through Prohibition by providing wine to the church.

Saturday we drove to the coast. What a fantastic view. There are only a few hundred people living in the town of Jenner, basically all of them have views of the water. No wonder houses are so crazy expensive!

The week we were in Sonoma County, they were about 80% done harvesting grapes. The grapes that were still on the vines were quite a sight!

We spent three days at this great cottage in Windsor. Beautiful spot and very relaxing.

We drove Lombard Street just west of Hyde, which is known as the "windiest" street in the US. And it lived up to its reputation, being very windy and incredibly steep.

It did provide good views of the city and Bay area.

We took an old Streetcar to Chinatown - an area of San Francisco that was absolutely filthy. There were shops lining both sides of each street; including furniture and decorating shops, gift shops, and clothing stores. The signs were in both Chinese and English; and there were people everywhere. The entire area was almost visually overwhelming. We passed one fish store that had the windows lined with fish tanks stuffed full of live fish waiting to be picked out by shoppers, and one tank full of slimy green frogs...

Of course we had to do a little shopping in San Fran. One of the open air shopping areas is built in an old Del Monte factory and is called "The Cannery"; the other one we enjoyed is "Ghiradelli Square" - self explanatory...

At Pier 39 there are planks that sea lions have inhabited. They are adorable, and draw quite a crowd of sightseers.

We are spending our FIRST ANNIVERSARY in beautiful Northern California. We spent Friday & Saturday in San Francisco. The bay area is fantastic, there are sail boats, military ships, and cruise ships everywhere.
